Something To Ponder

If Illinois politics are so corrupt, why did this happen:

The Illinois House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly to impeach Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich on Friday morning on the grounds of abuse of power as the state’s chief executive. He is the first governor in Illinois’s history to be impeached, and his case now goes to the state Senate for trial.

The House deliberated less than an hour and a half before voting 114 to 1 to oust the governor, just one day after a 21-member House investigative committee unanimously recommended impeachment. The only member to vote against impeachment was Milton Patterson, a Democrat from Chicago. No one spoke up to defend Mr. Blagojevich.

Illinois House Impeaches Governor

when President Bush can brag about breaking multiple laws without even an attempt at impeachment? Note that the vote here was 114 to 1, which means that Blagojevich's party went along with it. Yet in DC, neither party could muster up the outrage to enforce the law of the land.

Just one more reason I don't particularly care how big the Democratic majority is. As long is it's the kind of Democrats we have now, it will never be enough.

"Impeachment is off the table".

Remember that?

Fuck 'em all.

When I see some fight coming from our side I will then believe a bit.

Until then what we've been getting is business as usual.

At this time inclined to think Obama's proposals will result in politics as usual and maybe even worse because it looks like some on our side once again will side with the repugs.

This will not be pretty.

Blago got it wrong. You can't be merely horrifically corrupt. You have to commit war crimes, shit on the Constitution, and lie America into a war where over four thousand soldiers have died, not to mention the civilian suffering. Then you can get away with it.

Of all the damn fool things the Dems have done, taking impeachment off the table was very nearly the worst. But I know they're doing it to protect their own asses, so I can't be furious, merely contemptuous.

Or, he could have joined the GOP. Oh, wait, there's the health care thing.

I'm with One Fly, when I see some actual interest in doing the right thing from "our" side, then I'll start thinking they're worth supporting as a group.
