The Oregonian Clock was originally purchased in 1892 for the old Oregonian building on SW Fifth and Yamhill. It is a model 4S tower clock, manufactured by the E. Howard & Co. of Boston. Now, I might have tried to find some New Year's-themed music, but Dana embedded "New Year's Day", which is quite likely the one I would have chosen. Suzanne went with ABBA, which I think I can honestly say I will never do.
So take your pick. And enjoy the fact that I managed to find a picture of a clock.

oldest daughter, the mother of my granddaughter, is a huge abba fan.
I guess it's obvious that I was never a big fan, but sometimes they're fun to listen to. Part of the problem was that they ended up on the pop radio stations back then, which meant that they were played endlessly.

Nice clock you've got. I myself prefer a smaller size -- one that fits in my cottage.
Just curious, but are you at all optimistic about the coming year?
I think clocks like the one in the photo are best left in museums. At home, the most accurate clocks are the computers. They're always connected to Internet time servers, so they're within a second or so of the real time. Other clocks are mostly for backup or decoration.
No, I'm afraid I see little to look forward to this year. The election will change nothing, at least not for the better. The economy will continue to get worse. If there's any hope at all, it's that there may be the beginnings of the upheaval that will be necessary for things to change.
How about you? Anything you're looking forward to?
I'm generally pessimistic, but hopeful there will be a resurgence of the Occupy movement or something more effective than it. Since the problems have not gone away, I think there's a good chance of that.
