A Video Worth Watching

Cenk Uygur and Glenn Greenwald on The Dylan Ratigan Show after the electoral debacle:

If you haven't read what these guys were saying in the first five minutes at Slobber And Spittle, then I don't think you've been reading here very long. From there, though, they take on the next question, which is what should we do next. They have some good answers.

The segment is almost fifteen minutes long, so set aside a little time. It's definitely worth watching, though.

UPDATE: It looks like MSNBC's embed code doesn't work. Click here to be taken to the video at MSNBC's site.

I think that was about the best political conversation I've seen in the media in months. It makes me wonder why we don't see more discussions like it, for the Left seems largely ignored by the media.

There were a couple of thoughts that occurred to me while I was watching this that had very little to do with the subject matter.

The first was that watching this after watching opinions shown on NPR, PBS, Fox, and CNN, hearing what these folks were saying would cause cognitive dissonance. It goes against just about every trope the morons those channels trot out keep using time and again.

The other is that this should make it clear that there are lots of people who can comment on events on television besides the ones we are normally presented with. Why do Pat Buchanan and Lawrence O'Donnell, just to name two, have to be the guys representing "conservatism" and "liberalism"? Wouldn't it be better to find people who have those political points of view, but also understand the subject at hand?

Anyway, yes, it's a rare discussion for TV, and there's a reason for that situation that has nothing to do with lack of available talent.

Cujo, I just wish the grassroots Left could come together long enough to bring about some changes. People say that can't happen, that we are too disorganized. I myself don't know one way or the other, but I wish it would happen.
