Bank of America is hoarding your tax dollars -- and workers are losing
their jobs as a result.
Send a message to support workers.
Bank of America and Congressional leaders need to ensure that the Bailout Program is used to provide workers and companies with lines of credit to save jobs.
Last month, Bank of America accepted $25 billion in taxpayer funds as part of the Wall Street Bailout. Now they're refusing to release lines of credit and causing hundreds to lose their jobs. In Chicago, workers making energy efficient windows and doors at the Republic Windows and Doors plant came to work only to be told their factory was shutting down and they would not be receiving the pay owed to them.
Hundreds of these laid-off workers have occupied their factory and are refusing to leave without receiving the benefits they rightly deserve -- they're staying in the office day and night in their quest for justice. We think this is an important fight, and that's why we're joining with our friends at True Majority to take action.
Tell Bank of America and Congressional leaders to ensure that the Bailout Program be used to provide workers and companies with lines of credit to save jobs.
This is just the latest instance of banks taking advantage of the taxpayer funded bailout. Instead of using our funds to provide loans and credit lines to companies and workers on Main Street, Bank of America is focused on taking over other banks and padding their executives' bottom line.
These workers have become a symbol for everything that's wrong in our economy, and they need our support right now. But, once this immediate crisis passes, we'll need to gear up to pass a Next New Deal for Main Street that will protect millions of other Americans struggling like these workers in Chicago.

Thank you for working to build a better world.

CREDO Action
from Working Assets
I added the news links. The first link is a sanitized URL for the petition page, which is being run by True Majority.
CREDO is a good group of folks. Last year, I mentioned their campaign to send donated calling cards to U.S. servicemembers overseas. They, and their parent company Working Assets, have been supporting progressive causes for decades. If I ever need a cell phone, CREDO will be the first place I shop for one.
Anyway, it's another petition to sign, but as with so many things, as go the workers in Chicago so may go the rest of us. It's time that the people who run the banks and the Congress remember that they're a part of this society, not its masters.

Cujo is correct about CREDO.
May the workers win this!
